FreeEduZone lists free online courses from other learning platforms. We keep as little information about you as we can. This page explains what we store, why, and how to remove it.
Without an account
- Searches on the Courses page and clicks on "Go to course" are counted so we can see which courses are useful and which ones are missing. They are deleted after one year.
- Problem reports and messages you send us (Help page, "Report a problem") are kept so our team can answer them.
- To stop password guessing and spam, we briefly record failed logins and requests per email address and IP address, stored only in scrambled (hashed) form and deleted after a day.
With an account
- Your name, email address and password (stored scrambled, never readable), and a profile picture if you add one.
- The courses you save, the courses you suggest, and when you last logged in.
- Your searches and course clicks are linked to your account while it exists.
- We send you one email a week with the new free courses in your topics (only when there is something new for you), and remember when the last one went out. Your topics are the ones you pick on your Profile page, or else the topics of the courses you save and open. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
Cookies
- Session cookie (
PHPSESSID): keeps you logged in while you browse. Deleted when you close the browser. - Remember me (
fez_remember): only if you tick "Remember me"; keeps you logged in for 30 days. - Analytics cookies from Microsoft Clarity: see "How we improve the site" below.
How we improve the site
We use Microsoft Clarity to see how visitors use our public pages (for example where people click and how far they scroll), so we can make FreeEduZone easier to use. Clarity records anonymous sessions and heatmaps and uses cookies for this.
- It runs only on public pages: never on your dashboard, your profile, login or password pages.
- Text you type into forms is hidden from the recordings.
- How Microsoft uses this data: Microsoft Privacy Statement.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. Emails are sent through our email provider. When you open a course, you leave FreeEduZone for that course's platform (for example Coursera or edX), whose own privacy policy then applies. Site analytics are provided by Microsoft Clarity, as described above.
Your choices
- Change your name, email or picture on your Profile page.
- Stop the weekly email with the link at the bottom of any of them, or on your Profile page.
- Delete your account from your Profile page at any time. This removes your account and saved courses; your past searches and clicks are kept only as anonymous counts.
- Questions or requests about your data: contact us.
How long we keep it
- Account data: until you delete your account.
- Searches and course clicks: one year.
- Login and spam protection records: one day.
